2020 Main Stage Season
Assassins the Musical
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by John Weidman

Directed & Staged by Kimberli Rowley
Music Direction by Chris E. McCabe

February 7th - 23rd*

A multiple Tony Award-winning theatrical tour-de-force, Assassins combines Sondheim's signature blend of intelligently stunning lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of our nation's culture of celebrity and the violent means some will use to obtain it, embodied by America's four successful and five would-be presidential assassins. Bold, original, disturbing and alarmingly funny, Assassins is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written.
Assassins lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.

The Great Gatsby
By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Adapted for the stage by Simon Levy

Directed by Jennifer Clark

March 19th - 29th

Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan. Nick Carraway, a young newcomer to Long Island, is drawn into their world of obsession, greed and danger. The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age come to the stage in F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, and in Simon Levy's adaptation, approved by the Fitzgerald Estate.
"Somewhere out there, Jay Gatsby is smiling one of those enigmatic smiles, with everything and nothing behind it. 'Yes, old sport,' Gatsby is saying, 'that's about right. That's about right.' Surely, that smiling sign of approval would be Gatsby's suitably understated take on Simon Levy’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby...a beautifully crafted interpretation of the 1925 novel which defined the Jazz Age...This is indeed a grand GATSBY." —London Free Press

Winner of the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Their tiny battles and not- so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely-tuned comic eye, The Flick is a hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.
